A faux finish or faux painting is a painted imitation of something that occurs naturally. This is not sponging, ragging, smooshing, bagging or any other faux painting technique where the tool mark is left undisguised on a surface. Wall glazing is texturing a transluscent, colored glaze with a tool and then removing any sign of the tool or hand that applied it. We make a distinction between the two in our classes. Intermediate classes are where you start to learn the art of the real faux finish. This generally requires developing a skill rather than just a technique and requires practise. We are one of the few studios that insist a person must be qualified to take advanced classes before they are allowed to sign up for them.
