Venetian Plaster:
-Texston's Natural Lime-based VenecianoMarmorino and Antico™

Level of Instruction:

A comprehensive two-day workshop covering both Veneciano (stucco veneciano) Antico and Marmorino. We offer hands-on training, start to finish, with these exceptional plasters from Texston. Many different samples will be made for a complete portfolio of decorative plasters to take away.

Veneciano™ is a lime-based plaster that is burnished to a high polish or left matte for a sophisticated look. It cures as hard as rock. Interior only.

Texston Marmorino™ creates a honed stone-like surface that is matte to satin and very hard. The visual texture comes from the grain of the plaster. It can be left rough or made very smooth depending on the application technique. Marmorinos have been used for hundreds of years. Interior and Exterior

Texston Antico™ is very similiar to marmorino but the aggregate is all the same size so it feels like a smooth marmorino. It also uses a dolomitic slaked lime which allows for a harder, more burnished finish if desired. Interior and Exterior

Many people are starting to understand that the skilled application of Venetian Plaster is not intuitive and without proper instruction, the true depth and beauty of these plasters will never be realized.

You will learn about the proper use of the ancient Northern Italian plaster art form that effectively transforms any wall - interior or exterior - into a modern work of art with paste compounds of marble powder and slaked lime. Walls can appear rugged and historical or modern and contemporary using the techniques learned in this venetian plaster class. Take advantage of our studio's extensive training, knowledge and skill. In this one- day hand-on workshop, you will create your very own portfolio of samples.

This is the perfect course for Faux Finishers and Painting Contractors who want to learn the basic applications and professional tips for handling venetian plaster.

The goal of this venetian plaster class is not to force you into a particular style, but to have you understand the working qualities of stucco veneciano so that you can use these methods and develop your own style.
