Faux Preparation: Basic Painting Course
- professional series - foundation class

Art Basics

The key to a successful finish is proper preparation. Any professional will tell you that but unfortunately, most Faux Painters know very little about the surfaces they propose to finish. Learn the basics of surface preparation and painting with this valuable class. From plasters to primers, sandpaper to clear coats, find out from a twenty-five year veteran of the painting trade.

A successful completion requires a proper start

Faux finish school and workshop for beginners and aspiring professionals

A faux finish or faux painting is a painted imitation of something that occurs naturally. This is not sponging, ragging, smooshing, bagging or any other so-called faux painting technique where the tool mark is left undisguised on a surface. Broken color wall glazing is texturing a transluscent, colored wall glaze with a tool. We make a distinction between the two in our classes. The intermediate classes are where you start to learn the art of real faux finishing. This generally requires developing a skill rather than just a technique and requires practise.
