Professional Stenciling Essentials
This stenciling class is suited for amateurs to professionals who have done some
basic stenciling but now want to learn some of the tricks that professionals
use to achieve stunning results. Definitely not country-style or your Mother's stenciling.
Free form, stacking, shading and free hand embellishments are
taught. You will then work on a board, laying out a selected multi-part
overlay stencil, and practicing stencil painting technique, shading
and embellishment. Stencil repair and cutting is also learned. Students will also cut their
own multiple overlay stencils to create a rondelle with 3-D
effects using enhanced shading techniques. Render a trompe
l’oeil rose urn using glazes; work on inlaid vines on
a wooden board. Learn foreground/background image control
techniques Your skills will be greatly enhanced through use
of these trompe l’oeil techniques and effects.

Your results will have that hand-painted look. Learn tricks
of the trade, including proper brush loading, paint application
and shading; multiple overlay bridgeless theorum stencils are used.
This class is suited for professionals and inspired amateurs. This is one of our core professional series foundation classes.
Your instructor, Laurie Spagnolia, is a certified IDAL stenciling teacher (2002)and a certified IDAL stenciler (1996). Laurie was awarded the Certified Teacher citation at the SALI convention in 2002; this certification is only awarded after rigorous testing and documentation of teaching skills.
